Char Siu (Chinese Barbecue Pork)

Confession time before I move to the recipe. Honestly guys, this is the first time I am cooking pork at home. Why are asking me? Well, being married to a typical Hindu who doesn't eat pork, I didn't want to pull out our marriage roots or shake up our marriage tree which has already grounded strongly. But lemme tell you that I am a hard-core lover of Chinese food (Chinese Chicken Herbal Soup, Cantonese Fried Rice, Hakka Noodles, Teochew Steamed Fish & Sichuan Chilli Prawns). Actually even my other half-half does not mind Chinese food maybe not often, but every now and then, yet it can't be pork. As long as all those dishes I make are a produce of seafood, he will in fact tuck in and of course, Chinese vegetarian dishes, well, do I have to say anything? Indians seemingly have no issue adapting to vegetarian dishes (Yam Basket Vegetarian, Chinese Vegetable Noodle Soup, Old Cucumber Soup & Vegetarian Chow Mein).

Tandoori Chicken

Honestly guys, if you thinking that you can't make tandoori chicken at home because you don't own a tandoor oven, you are definitely outrightly wrong (Grilled Chicken Wings). Who told you so or you yourself have concluded? Ask me and I will tell you that you can bake tandoori chicken in your oven, (Baked Lemon Chicken) or grill over a BBQ pit, and for those of you can't possibly do both, you can use the portable over the stove grill. Yes you can. I know what I am saying. In fact, I initially thought I will use the grill, then again, unless you cut chicken to small pieces, most probably you will be spending much time in being concern if tandoori chicken is cooked inside, of course, the outside char won't be an issue. Alright, so much for the cooking technic (Moroccan Chicken Stew & Chilli Chicken), can we get down to the recipe. Sure.

Lemon Butter Salmon

So, a different kinda fish recipe today though fish is still the central ingredient. Yes foodies. Looks like there will be no end to my fish story and fish supposedly will forever be trended in my house (Nyonya Steamed Fish, Malabar Fish Curry & Thai Crispy Fish). Regardless, I broke free from those traditional and typical Asian style fish recipes. Yes I did. We need the change right? Of course. And the change in this form of a Western style dish (Tuna Burgers, Batter Fried Fish, Fish Sandwich & Baked Cornflakes Chicken), I decided to do Lemon Butter Salmon. Lemon Butter Salmon (Butter Prawns) baking basically (Baked Lemon Chicken). Of course when we put together salmon especially (Indian-Spiced Salmon & Grilled Salmon) alongside lemon (Thai Lemonade & Lemon Cashew Rice) and butter, we must include rosemary for the beautiful smell as well right? I know. As if these four ingredients must be in tandem? You bet. What else did I do? Pairing gorgeous and mouthwatering baked lemon butter salmon alongside baked potatoes and coleslaw. What a perfect, complete and simply inviting salmon platter food right?

Sujee Cake

Can you believe it? I actually baked. Baking and yours truly? I think you know it. Not my forte. Neither do I have a burning desire, nor, like I have told you before, there are no takers for cakes or even desserts (Saffron Poached Pears, Honeydew Sago, Rava Kesari & Bubur Cha Cha) in my home. Not even me. Maybe every now and then, I craze, but that too is countable. Of course, the mood for baking (Marble CakeLemon Buttermilk Cake) does linger on my mind whenever I feel I want to break free from cooking the usual daily meals. On this day, I was so into baking (Baked Rice Pudding & Chocolate Tart) and specifically a Sujee Cake. Where did the recipe come from? Actually, to tell you the truth, I did refer to some recipes from my old recipe books (Cream Puffs) and of course, what is the virtual world for? Millions of recipes popping up the moment you search and seek online (Eggless Orange Cheesecake)? Still, somehow I am quite apprehensive when it comes to especially cake recipes from books and tell me about what can go wrong for online recipes. Thus, I actually was more convinced by this recipe handed over by my friend who does baking as her part time income. What I learned from her is that you need to soak sujee in milk for softening. Otherwise, sujee will remain grainy once cake is already baked. Made sense and I must admit its a crucial technic because, wouldn't you agree this Sujee Cake is really-really a baking show stealer? Cake sampled by colleagues and they couldn't agree more. So, guys, I will strongly suggest you grab this recipe of mine and I am really certain you will love this soft and melting in the mouth sweet non-sinful pleasure.

Eggless Orange Cheesecake

Seems like I have not pulled the brakes to cheesecakes. I have not obviously, but I think I will finally. Enough of me (Chocolate Cheesecake & No Bake Cheesecake), and me practicing on cheesecakes and for me personally, since I stick to the easy way out cheesecakes (Mango Cheesecake & Pandan Cheesecake), neither do I have the intention of spiraling my cheesecake making further, I see the end. This eggless, yes guys, eggless, who said you can't make eggless cheesecake, not me though, another fruitiness version (Honeydew Sago, Mango Cocktail, Lemon Cream Pie, Poached Pear & Grapefruit Jelly), definitely is the last draw. Sort of similarities, what can be different anyway for the bottom layer except a biscuit layer, but like I have already told, fruity cheese topping made from fresh orange juice (Orange Sangria), cream cheese, condensed milk only instead of adding sugar and orange zest. My-my! Don't you think Eggless Orange Cheesecake is truly luring your dessert attention? Your crazing really popping up? Of course? So, get going foodies. Make this my version of Eggless Orange Cheesecake and of course, I will be glad to hear from you how it turned out. Bye. Take care guys.

Creamy Mushroom Soup

Cold weather calling dish. Of course, when weather is cold, don't you think we yearn for a bowl of hot piping soup? Of course. Any kinda of soup by far will be good for warmth and the list is endless. So many times of soups we can make and if we are speaking about simplicity, then we must refer to those light soups (Mixed Vegetable Soup, Corn SoupTomato Spinach Soup & Lentil Vegetable Soup) & or even Chinese soups (Chinese Chicken Herbal Soup & Burdock Root Soup) in which whatever ingredients you prefer can go in (Chicken Vegetable Soup & Vietnamese Fish Soup) and all you got to do is slow simmering. This Creamy Mushroom Soup on the other hand is not the same (Tom Kha Gai & Onion Soup). First we sweat/saute garlic, shallots and mushrooms in butter. Next is pouring water and then pulsing/blending these ingredients, before pouring back into the pot for simmering and adding milk, salt and pepper for this Western style creamy soup. Of course toast will be good for a complete, wholesome meal. Recipe for toast is attached as well. Butter, rosemary and garlic toast for dipping into this thick, creamy and absolutely favourable mushroom (Mushroom Veggie Burger & Mushroom Rolls) soup. Fab right?

Chocolate Cheesecake

What an emptiness to desserts in this precious space of mine. In fact, when was the last time I shared a dessert recipe? Oh my godness! Been quite a while (Watermelon Sorbet). Well, you can't blame me. Basically, there are no takers for desserts in my house. Between the two of us, we don't desire sweetness and also, shall I say the focus is mostly our daily meals instead of sweet rush or sweet crush (Saffron Poached Pears, Citrus Poached Pears, Fried Apple Fritters & Bake Rice Pudding). When I bake, whatever I bake is given away to friends, colleagues or neighbours (Lemon Buttermilk Cake, Lemon Cream Pie & Coconut Panna Cotta). Anyway, time was in hand and I decided I should bake. Not those major rocker kinda desserts, but the familiarity I have done before (Pandan Cheesecake & Mango Cheesecake). I mean what can be different for a cheesecake if you are considering simplicity? Biscuit bottom layer and for this latest version cheesecake, I did the cocoa powder chocolate and of course, the top must be the creamy and sweet cheesy layer? Of course.

Baked Lemon Chicken

When its a meal on my own, I can't think of none. It has to be chicken. The chicken my other half-half is anti about, or better to be said as he does not eat chicken (Butter Chicken, Sweet Chilli ChickenBraised Chicken Feet & Chicken Varuval). So? Chicken does not come into my hunger and food picture unless and until he is away. Or when we are entertaining or when I want to try new chicken dishes which will be packed and handed over to our friends (Spicy Chicken Wings, Easy Chicken Kebab, Thai Yellow Chicken Curry & Malaysian Chicken Chop). Otherwise, there can't be chicken in my house. Actually, my other half-half does not mind if I cook chicken. Then again? I cooked chicken for myself and then cook another dish for him? God! Extra kitchen work. No way. On this day, obviously, my meal on my own and I decided to go for a Western style baked style. Baked (Baked Rice Pudding & Baked Bread Rolls) Lemon Chicken (Baked Cornflakes Chicken). Lemon, rosemary, chicken and baking? Pow! You tell me. Like a rocker the best combination right? Scent and fresh citrusy burst of lemon (Lemon Buttermilk Cake, Lemon Cashew Rice & Lemon Cream Pie), absolutely pleasing to our senses rosemary scent and tender succulent chicken, all in one as a wholesome meal. My-my! Paired alongside rice, fresh salad and yogurt. What do you think (Curried Roast Chicken)?

Baked Rice Pudding

Brings back memories. Mum and her Indian rice pudding. The one, all ingredients in one and over the stove making rice pudding (Pineapple Bread Pudding). Mothers those days? Have you realise they like the overdosing of sugar into desserts? By Far. As far as I know (Marble Cake, Chocolate Rum Tart & Poached Pears In Citrus Syrup). Indeed. And of course rice, we Indians I think are one of the biggest consumers of rice. In fact, I am one of them. Rice is my love. Forever (Jeera/Cumin Rice, Lemon Cashew Rice, Rice Congee With Condiments & Anchovies Fried Rice). When left over rice is a concern, generally, the recipes I have already attached are the indicators to our, one of it, one of our fav Malaysian dish. Nasi Goreng or Fried Rice. But not necessarily must be. You can, trust me, believe me, make this Baked Rice Pudding from leftover cooked white rice. Yes. I did it. What should hold you back? Nonetheless, I decided it should be the baked version instead of over the stove like my mums. Pretty much I think we need the common ingredients and cherries? They are so lovely. Prettiness for a simple deco right?

Pandan (Screwpine) Cheesecake

What's next after the pretty-pretty Mango Cheesecake & No Bake Cheesecake? Obviously, as you have already noted, Pandan (Screwpine) Cheesecake. Idea invention tumbling down from? No where actually. One of those things I suppose. One of those when you keep thinking and thinking. How far by the way I could I gone? Basically, the two previous cheesecakes being the idea ideology. After all, you tell me. Those of you who have already had a hands-on experience to baking (Lemon Cream Pie) cheesecake, I bet you know. You know which are the standard ingredients we need? Precisely. Cheese and the bottom biscuity layer. Right. But the challenger for me really was how much of, pandan/juice should I add instead of, of course, we love citrusy fruitiness and most probably can I say from mangoes (Mango Coconut Jelly, Mango Coconut Cake, Prawn Mango Curry & Mango Cucumber Salad). Or maybe even fruits, but I was so adamant about how can I incorporate Pandan juice from pandan leaves. Those of you are growing them, I bet you can connect to me? Why not to our garden harvested scent? Of course. I am one of them alright. Typical Malaysian my (Pandan Jelly With Coconut, Poached Pears in Citrus Syrup & Coconut Panna Cotta). What else should I say. Can I assume you are triggered? You like can't wait to make this Pandan (Screwpine) Cheesecake?

Mango Cheesecake

!
Oh-great! Me and my baking mode and mood turned on. Attuned and lighted up like a bright wishing star. Having said that, seriously, I had no slightest idea what should be baking in my oven (Cream Puff, Marble Cake & Chocolate Rum Tart) or should it be over the stove simmering or frying sweet guilty pleasure (Poached Pears in Citrus Syrup, Grapefruit Coconut JellyFried Apple Fritters). Honestly, I was rather confused. I really couldn't comprehend, but the fact was that I had already bought a ripe like me in my age mango (Mango Coconut Cake, Mango Cucumber Salad & Mango Coconut Jelly). Mango! Don't we all love the sweet tangy mango? I do. I also must include the sour notes from pineapple (Pineapple Bread Pudding) and lemon (Lemon Cream Pie & Lemon Buttermilk Cake). Yet, staring at the mango didn't get me any further until I remembered my previous No Bake Cheesecake. Decided. Its gonna be cheesecake. Mango Cheesecake. The same biscuit theory. Not digestive biscuits but cream crackers. Would you try? What should hold your back?  After all, you never try, you never know and you must put your trust in me.

Lemon Cream Pie

Lemons! I just so love, in fact millions of love for lemons. That tang, zang and citrusy lemony taste and scent? Oh-my! Just so refreshing. Lemons are great in anything for the matter. For savory dishes (Lemon Cashew Rice) or should I say anything when baking and lemons are married together (Lemon Buttermilk Cake)? What's the dessert today? Dessert for celebrating lemon? Obviously, we are are getting closer and closer to this Lemon Cream Pie (No Bake Cheesecake). Flour-butter crumbled sugarless bottom layer and sweet-tangy lemony atop. That's about it foodies. I'll see you again the next time (Poached Pears In Citrus Syrup & Chocolate Rum Tart).

Chocolate Rum Tart

What a, proud moment of mine baking breakthrough. Believe me you. Can you believe it that I made Chocolate Rum Tart? Joy to the world. Okay, okay, I am not floating in cloud 9 no more. I am back to reality. But still, such a breakthrough for me (Lemon Bars & Pineapple Bread Pudding). I guess when the mind is set, I guess nothing is impossible. Never mind if we are not the first at the finishing line. An achievement is still an achievement (Cream Puffs & Soft Rolls), for me, really, though I am not at all a fan of chocs, but for choc lovers, I can assure you that these chocolate tarts are a heavenly retreat (Dates Sunflower Seeds Cake & Fried Apple Fritters). Vanilla scented pastry and within it, rum infused dark chocolate. Rum of course is optional unless you are a once a while drunkard like me, these tarts by the way must be chilled first to set the choc filling prior to luxuriating in. I love you too everyone.

Jacket Potatoes With Chicken Mince

One of the things I've learned so far from blogging is that I shouldn't talk about myself all the time, in all sharing until your ears and eyes I reckon will blister fall apart. I realise that if I continue being a self-centered eccentric person, my followers will basically label me as a female chauvinist. Can't be my story all the time right? Or the love of my life, my other half-half also right? I know. Will sound as though I am an attention seeking person, regardless of the fact that this is my blog and there's no limitation to blowing my own trumpet? So, how about me asking you if you love Jacket Potatoes? Baked potatoes basically and can be filled with, most probably any ingredient as per your liking or as per this recipe, chicken mince. Do you love this kinda meal for a change? I think I hear you saying yes, or maybe my imagination is running wild, nevertheless, as I have communicated with you before, potato is a favourite)? I know assumption is a major "F" Up, still, I can't help assuming (Aloo Gobi, Dum Aloo & Curry Chicken Potatoes). I am sincerely believing that these jacket potatoes, crispy crunchy chicken (Cornflakes Baked Chickenmince filled (Sweet Chilli Chicken), yogurt atop and salad leaves paired, will be an absolute delight to your tastebuds.

Curried Roast Chicken

I like this whole idea to inventing my own recipes. Of course, when time is on my side, not always though, whenever I can squeeze in pretty much. Inventing recipes by far is my proud moment to food happiness (Malaysian Lamb Curry Noodles). Call me the recipe inventor or recipe influencer (Grilled Chicken Wings & Baked Cornflakes Chicken) if you feel you should. Thus, henceforth, therefore, my this time invention is Curried Roast Chicken (Chicken Curry Potatoes & Indian Chicken Curry). Chicken of course is the main highlight, but instead of one whole chicken, I opted for two pieces (Honey Chilli Chicken, Chicken Wanton Soup & Chicken Feet Salad) due to me dining alone. Nothing worrying, nothing nor intimidating, neither you should be over concern, over the word curried. Not for my recipes though. Basically, you make this Curried Roast Chicken (Cashew Masala Chicken, Butter Chicken, Sesame Chicken & Sweet Chilli Chicken) with your pantry friendly ingredients I reckon. Obviously curry leaves scented. Yes, curry leaves for roast chicken. Remember, I already told you, my invention? What shouldn't we use curry leaves for a roast, you tell me please? Curry leaves coupled alongside curry powder, ginger juice, garlic juice, onion juice, oil and salt. Crispy utterly on the outside, tender bite inside, and amazing curry leaf scented Curried Roast Chicken.

Baked Cornflakes Chicken

After all the many years behind the road, when you invest in an oven, don't you think we should start baking? Utterly. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of investing in a new kitchen equipment. Don't you think so? I reckon. All these while, I have been the over the stove portable grilling pan person (Grilled Fish In Banana Leaf & Grilled Salmon). So, oven investment seemingly has brought a broad smile on my face. Nevertheless, I must also say that we Malaysians, unless you are baking enthusiast, we generally prefer on fire under our pots and pans cooking. Anyway, I am not regretting. Never know, it may spiral me to start seriously baking? Early to throw words though and mind you, I have already started and here is the latest from my oven. Baked Cornflakes Chicken (Grilled Chicken Wings). Any part will do (Sesame Chicken & Sweet Chilli Chicken), of course, I love the sinful wings (Chicken Feet Kerabu/Salad), but remember, as far as I know, baking is healthier compared to frying (Fried Shrimp Wanton). Dried herbs I already had went into this baked cornflakes chicken, of course you have the liberty to to other herbs, fresh or dried. Crispy, yummy and mouth crunching pop-ohlalala Baked Cornflakes Chicken, paired alongside sweet potatoes, optional.

Sardine Rolls

Roll up sardines in bread. Already prior stir fried sardine in chilli powder, and once cool down, add bit by bit or fit as much as you can into bread. Thereafter, egg washed before baking or you can fry as well. One way of not wasting leftover bread slices and definitely Sardine Rolls will be appreciated, anytime of the day.

d’italiane kitchen, Sunway Giza

As glaringly evident in its name, the restaurant serves Italian cuisine. This is the second outlet, the first being in Jaya 33. The interior is rather unpretentious, with clean sleek contemporary lines outlining the restaurant.
