Soy Sauce Tofu Recipe

Microwaved sliced Japanese tofu, with soy sauce, crispy shallots in oil, sliced spring onions and chilli flakes.
An easy-to-cook, simple homemade Chinese dish. There’s nothing much to do, yet soy sauce tofu is appetising for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. A no-fuss easy tofu recipe that can be made within minutes (QUICK CHINESE VEGETABLE STIR-FRY). 

The tofu can range from hard white tofu, Japanese soft tofu, to brown soft tofu. For this Chinese recipe, Japanese egg tofu is used, though white Japanese tofu, works as well.

So simple to make. Slice  the Japanese tofu into rings and next is, either as steamed tofu or microwave tofu. Place on a plate.  Pour over the sauce. Various types of soy sauce work, and garnish with crispy fried shallots in oil, fresh spring onions, and chili flakes.

 

This Malaysian Chinese food dish is also a healthy choice and a delightful tofu in soy sauce option (BITTER GOURD EGG). 

 

Ingredients for Soy Sauce Tofu

1 roll Japanese tofu - sliced intro rings

3 tbsp light soy sauce

3 tbsp dark soy sauce

Crispy fried shallots in oil - as needed

Sliced spring onions - as needed

Chilli flakes - as needed

Salt - if needed

Some water

 

How to Make Soy Sauce Tofu

Steam or microwave tofu for one minute

Place on a plate.

Mix light soy sauce, dark soy sauce and water.

Add salt if needed.

Pour over tofu.

Sprinkle fried shallots with the oil, spring onion and chilli flakes atop.
