Tender
and juicy chicken, served with ginger sauce. The fresh aroma of ginger, the
bright burst of spring onions, and the nutty scent of sesame oil make this a
delicious, wholesome, and simple Chinese meal (CHINESE EGG FRIED RICE).
Truly, Chinese cooking doesn’t get easier. Steaming is straightforward, and the no-cook Chinese Ginger Dip delivers a beloved spicy kick. The succulent steamed chicken (EASY CHICKEN SALAD) is eaten by dipping into the Chinese sauce.
This homemade version is different from restaurant-style steamed chicken due to the cooking technique. The same style of chicken is often used for chicken rice meals, alongside roasted options such as Siew Yoke (Crispy Roasted Pork Belly) or Char Siew (Chinese Barbecue Pork). Traditionally served with cucumber slices, this recipe uses cabbage.
There are no exact measurements for the
ingredients. Adjust according to your preference. If steaming a whole chicken,
ginger slices can be inserted into the cavity, which isn’t possible with
chicken pieces.
Steamed chicken is not only easy to
prepare but also a healthy cooking method. For a cleaner, leaner option, you
can skip the chicken skin and use just the meat.
