There are endless ways to make fried rice, literally open to all sorts of ingredients. It can be minimalist, like this Malaysian Fried Rice, or packed with your favorite vegetables. Fried rice is a favourite Malaysian food, a quick-fix, easy recipe. Since leftover rice is available, it makes the best base for fried rice.
Rice is a staple in Malaysia and other
Asian countries, where fried rice is also part of simple, everyday cooking (THAI FRIED RICE).
Ingredients for Fried Rice
2 cups cooked
white rice
3 shallots - chopped
2 medium potatoes - peeled, sliced into small pieces & mix with some turmeric powder & salt.
Dried red chili paste
- to taste
1 handful
frozen green peas
Some spring onions - thinly sliced
3 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
Heat oil and
fry potatoes until lightly crispy on both sides.
Remove and set
aside.
In the same
oil, sauté shallots.
Add dried chili
paste and cook until the oil separates.
Add rice and
stir to combine.
Add fried
potatoes, peas, spring onion and salt.
Stir to combine
all ingredients.
Dish out.
