Japanese Grilled Teriyaki Salmon Recipe

Pan grilled spicy salmon, with soy sauce tangy sweet sauce, atop with white sesame seeds and spring onions.
Mention salmon, and what pops to mind is a Japanese recipe. Between teppanyaki salmon and teriyaki salmon, this recipe focuses on teriyaki salmon. Either a dry style or coated in a thick sauce using soy sauce as the base. It’s garnished with crispy sesame seeds and spring onions (also known as scallions or green onions) for a fresh, crisp, slightly sweet, and aromatic flavor.

This recipe is a fusion between Indian-style salmon and Japanese-style salmon. Without the soy sauce base, it becomes grilled salmon, masala salmon or even Japanese grilled salmon. Japanese teriyaki salmon is an easy cooking technique relying on pantry staples (PUMPKIN SOUP). 

The recipe is versatile: the teriyaki sauce can also be used with other vegetable dishes like steamed daikon or Japanese-style aubergine, as well as other types of fish (FISH HEAD CURRY). 

 

Crispy-skinned, mildly sweet and tangy Japanese teriyaki salmon, sprinkled with crispy sesame seeds and spring onions, is uplifting to the taste buds. Paired with steamed rice and a simple salad, as a complete Japanese meal.

Ingredients for Grilled Salmon
1 medium salmon fillet
1/2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
Salt, to taste
A sprinkle of water
Oil for frying
A medium size salmon, marinated in chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt.

Ingredients for Teriyaki Sauce

1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tbsp soy sauce

A pinch of sugar
1/4 cup water
1 tsp lime juice


Ingredients for Garnishing Teriyaki Salmon
Sliced spring onions
Roasted white sesame seeds

 

How to Make Japanese Grilled Salmon

Into a bowl, add all the ingredients for Grille Salmon (except for salmon and oil)..

Mix and combine.

Add salmon inside and rub the curry paste mixture atop. 
Marinate for at least 30 minutes. 
Heat oil, and fry salmon on both sides.  
Remove and place on a serving plate.

Grilled with turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt salmon.

How to Make Teriyaki Sauce 

In the same pan, reduce the oil to about 2 tablespoons.
Saute ginger paste and garlic paste in the oil.
Pour in soy sauce, lime juice and water.
Season with sugar and salt.
Stir and simmer. 

How to Make Japanese Grilled Teriyaki Salmon 
Into the plate of grilled salmon, pour the teriyaki sauce atop.
Sprinkle sesame seeds and spring onions atop. 
Sprinkle spring onions and sesame seeds atop.
