Healing Journey - Why, How & When

Is healing a trendy word in this modern world? Is it simply a word widely spoken about, or one that deserves more attention? Truth be told, healing should not be swept under the carpet or brushed aside on the assumption that all is well. Healing matters because it is a reminder to pause (

While healing may be seen as something meant only for those who need help, the reality is that personal well-being deserves attention too. After all, particularly in today's social media-driven world, the message seems to be to keep grinding, keep pushing, never stop and do as many things as possible in a day. The more that is accomplished, the greater the sense of achievement, almost as though a champion's award awaits those who can do it all.

The daily grind may have become accepted as part and parcel of life, particularly in urban settings. Juggling many things at once can be a source of pride, earning a badge of honour for being able to manage everything at one go. It can also create the impression that doing it all is something to aspire to, setting an example for others and encouraging them to become go-getters.

Right here, right now, take a minute or two to stop and think. What is the rush? What has been compromised or quietly set aside without even realising it?

In the pursuit of life in the fast lane, certain needs may be put on hold or dismissed as unimportant. Perhaps a pause is needed to recognise when the demands of daily life are taking their toll. Something may feel missing, or the mind may be constantly on the go, leaving little room to slow down. This is an opportunity to recognise the importance of stepping back and making room for personal well-being (MANIFESTATION SIMPLE TECHNIQUES).

What Is Healing?

When healing is mentioned, the images that come to mind typically point to recovering from injuries or illness. Healing is understood as the process of getting back on track physically and regaining health. However, healing is not purely about physical health, wellness matters too. Health and wellness are obviously like cousins, as both relate to the body and mind. A tired body and mind can affect the emotions. Stress, complicated situations or simply the need to slow down and care for oneself can all be reasons to prioritise healing.

Healing means different things to each person, depending on their lifestyles (TOP NATURE PLACES IN THE WORLD) and what they are going through. It may not be interpreted as something is broken or a missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle. Instead, it is about balancing daily life when one area becomes demanding that everything else starts to tilt. It is about restoring that balance by being selective about priorities.

Why Do We Need Healing?

Finding balance begins with recognising personal needs rather than becoming so caught up in career, family and the responsibilities that come with them. It is easy to become overwhelmed without realising it, or to believe that achieving more requires pushing harder and moving faster. In the process, stress and tiredness may be set aside, dismissed or simply accepted as part of daily life. Without stopping to reflect, one may not realise when the demands of daily life begin to take their toll.

Daily responsibilities cannot always be avoided, but personal well-being must not be pushed aside either. Caring for oneself by listening to the body and mind is the ultimate clue.

Simple Daily Healing Tips

There are various ways to heal, depending on individual preferences and what resonates with each person. While occasional ways of unwinding, such as holidays and spa treatments, are worth considering, simple daily healing should not be discounted either.

Healing, per se, is not complicated or costly, nor does it require setting aside a long period of time. A minute or two, or perhaps five minutes, can be enough to fit into an otherwise busy day. Certain healing moments may not be possible at work, but it is easy to make time for them at home.

Quiet Space

Finding a quiet space at home is ideal. It can be anywhere that feels comfortable, whether a corner of the house or a favourite spot. Turn off the television, put the handphone aside and, where possible, minimise surrounding noise. Sitting on the bed with a pillow supporting the back is one of the options, but any position will do, whether lying down, sitting on a chair or on the floor.

Now, slowly close the eyes and let the mind settle on a favourite word while breathing gently. The word can be anything, such as self-love, gratitude or calmness, to name a few. Simply stay in the present moment, focusing on and visualising the word. Relax without forcing any particular emotions. Keep it simple. Stay there for two or three minutes, or even longer if time allows.

When it is time to open the eyes, rest assured, all will be good to go. The simplicity of resting back in a quiet space brings its own natural comfort.

Stop and Pause

Taking a short pause in between while driving or walking may sound unusual, but something catches the eye and makes it worth slowing down to appreciate the little things. It could be children playing in a field, a flower growing by the roadside or even an open space that, for no apparent reason, is a pleasant sight.

Rather than letting the moment pass by, take a little time to appreciate what is pleasant to the eye. Lo and behold, these unexpected moments bring a sense of belonging, as though there is a natural connection with the surroundings. There is a sense of calm in simply appreciating what is around, without needing to say a word or find a reason for the moment. The sheer pleasure lies in going with the flow and allowing the moment to unfold naturally.

Nature & Plants

Plants bring comfort to the soul, yet in the rush of life, their presence is easily overlooked. Taking a break from work and simply looking at the plants around, even a single plant, is a way to appreciate the beauty of nature. There is something calming about seeing plants as living things, growing in their own way and at their own pace. In fact, nature is one of the best natural remedies for healing.

A small plant on the office desk or a few indoor plants at home add a touch of nature to everyday surroundings. Looking at them brings a soft, unexpected smile to the face and provides a cosy break from the daily routine. It may even inspire a walk in the park or a slow start to gardening.

Scented Candles & Flowers

A whiff of a scented candle for a minute is sheer pleasure. Simply appreciating the fragrance or watching the light of a candle is a moment to pause, breathe and relax the body, mind and soul.

Flowers bring a similar connection through their natural fragrance and colours. Their scent is indeed natural aromatherapy, while their colours are associated with colour therapy, bringing a sense of calm and relaxation.

Undeniably, nature is a source of simple and divine pleasure without a price tag, providing inner and outer nourishment. All it takes is to stop, look and appreciate nature, the bliss of the universe.

Stray Cats & Dogs

Pet lovers will vouch for pets as stress relievers. Pets represent happiness and love. Stray cats and dogs are just as endearing. Seeing the way they walk, play or simply go about their day is a pleasant moment, even if it lasts only a few minutes.

Just a brief encounter, such as seeing a cat resting quietly nearby or a dog playing in an open space, brings a smile in the middle of an otherwise busy day.

Talking to an animal and smiling at its reaction is another simple pleasure. There is something appealing about their reactions when spoken to, easing the heaviness in the human mind. These little encounters bring a smile and a moment of relief from the daily routine.

 Smile

“Smile and the world smiles at you” holds a simple truth. Smiling at someone, even a stranger, is a small gesture that brightens the day. When the smile is returned, it creates a brief moment of connection between two people who may not know each other. It even leads to a short, casual chat that breaks the monotony of the day.

A smile is not just about healing oneself; it is also a way of sharing kindness with another person. In the rush of daily life, such small exchanges are a reminder to slow down and connect with the people around. Smiling is also a form of kindness towards oneself. A simple smile changes the way a moment feels and brings a more positive perspective to the day.

Laughter

Particularly at work, a light-hearted chat with a cheerful colleague is a much-needed change from the usual routine. It could be a random conversation, a funny story or a joke that gets everyone laughing. There is no need for a special occasion; an ordinary exchange is enough to bring laughter into the day.

For a little while, attention shifts away from work and its demands. Sharing a laugh with colleagues brings people closer and makes the working environment feel less serious. The laughter leaves a smile lingering on the face, making the return to the desk feel a little lighter. It does not remove the work that needs to be done, but it makes the day more enjoyable and the workload feel less overwhelming.
