The Social - Empire Subang, Subang Jaya

Friendship bonding? Important. I am not saying no. I must agree friendship bonding, maybe not an utmost top priority, but it is without a doubt important. Important for nourishing our inner senses and feelings even for someone like who generally am a solo-socializer. Yea right. For those of you who know me personally or in the visual world, I bet you have already gathered the fact that I am not only a solo-socializer, I am as well a solo-traveler. Solo-socializing mostly when I need a break out of my house (Ten Years Sunway, Penang Road Cendol Sunway & The Coffee & Bar) and mainly for appreciating my own company is the best company. I guess this thing to enjoying your own company is profound once age catches, especially when the bell has rung hard for indicating that if you can enjoy your own company, you won't depend on friends for putting your happiness in perspective? Remember, those friendship matters I have already told you before? Nevertheless, in all fairness, I admit I still love friendship bonding with closest, sincere, genuine friends (Makhan By Kitchen Mafia, Restoran Lucky Loke & Ming Kee Bak Kut Teh) instead of those great pretenders who are so skillful in making use of you.

This my recent friendship bonding, on a Saturday afternoon, at the suggestion of my going back to down our memory lane, years and years ago bestie, obviously, as you have noted took place in The Social Empire Subang. The Social Bangsar of course I have already solo-food-dined, but believe me, I have never ever stepped into The Social Empire Subang, though Empire Shopping Mall by itself is familiarity to me. Into the stylish, classy, spacious, two floors and rustic atmosphere of The Social,  we conclusively agreed to rest our butts at the outside dining areas instead of inside.
Menu and service a smile coming by soonest,  honestly, we were sort of unsure what to order due to spilling over choices. Eventually, we can't be staring at the menu forever right? We ordered our food items and for our drinking pleasure, I included Safe Sex Mocktail, whereas the game changer for my bestie was a bottle of wine. Safe Sex Mocktail, a concoction of fruit juices types sincerely, mind you was the safest bet for me instead of wine rushing my palpitation and anxiety attack, bestie on the other hand took her moment in time in sipping the supposedly exclusive wine as we caught up on our lost time and whilst in the mids of dishes being served. Not too long a wait by the way. Let’s say within the next  5 to 10 minutes?

Chicken Tortilla
Thin, round, made from finely ground maze flat bread, teamed alongside chicken stir fried with veggies and sauces, hot plate serving, and yogurt, tomato salsa, mint chutney, cheese and thinly sliced salad leaves.

Fried Mee Hoon
Seafood, veggies and soy sauce fried thin rice noodles, accompanied by sambal belacan.
Hainanese Chicken Chop
Crispy on the outside and soft bite inside chicken atop a dark and thick sauce and some frozen veggies scattered.
Salted Caramel Ice-Cream
Creamy, a tiny bit of saltiness, non-overwhelmingly sweet, luscious and melting in the mouth sweet delight.
Pavlova
Egg white and sugar whipped, crisp crust, soft and light inside meringue queen, whipped cream and fresh fruits exclusively seated atop.
Cappuccino
Coffee love hot beverage, double espresso based and steamed milk foam.
My food verdict? Honestly, Chicken Tortilla was a delight for starting us off. Subtle interesting role play of tastes. Fried Mee Hoon, despite being said as the major food seller in The Social, I personally didn’t find it to be a winner. Maybe because I rather prefer street and coffee shop, a couple of dollars Fried Mee Hoon? Sambal Belacan of course, a revelation of my kind spiciness and acidity tinge making me power happier. Hainanese Chicken Chop, oh-no, what a waste to ordering. An ultimate beautiful presentation, but sadly, unimpressive on our palates. Flat, bland and seriously, didn’t compute because crispy chicken didn’t jive with the sauce. Salted Caramel Ice-Cream and Pavlova on the contrary were the I have longed for some time sugar rush. What about Cappuccino, are you asking me? Another Cappuccino. Another those usual coffee fix you are no short changed in other such restaurant cum, when night falls, the early birds and night birds drinking hole.

All in all, overall, The Social must be credited for their string of ample choices, ambiance is the other I must mention as the pride and all those staff who attended to us, they are a pride as well.

Malaysian Sodhi (Indian Coconut Milk Stew)

Sodhi. Coconut milk infused and laced ( Shrimp Coconut Milk ) Indian coconut stew. In fact, sodhi is the branching of  Masak Lemak ( Vegetarian Malay Spinach Coconut Stew ), or vice-versa or whichever. Sodhi is definitely a popularity amongst the Indians and without a doubt, in my house as well. Sodhi is usually drenched over rice, and eaten alongside side dishes. Trust me, nothing like sodhi soaking or flooding up your rice and then, using your hands for mushy-mushy diving inside eating style. Sodhi. Like, every once a week in my house. In other words, a regularity and it is a dish that can be put up effortlessly. Needless to say, easy cooking and mind you, there are other variances of sodhi too, which I have already shared before ( Malu Kirata , Kiri Hodi , Prawn Sodhi & Cabbage Sodhi ). This latest sodhi? Basically, the humble, basic simplicity, but why a Malaysian Sodhi? Well, Cooked by this “The Crazy Lover” who is a typical, true and true Malaysian, and cooked in her, most o

Mochakottai Karuvadu Kulumbu (Field Beans Salted Fish Curry)

Look at this earthen pot and in it thick, salty, spicy and vibrantly exciting to our palates and eyes  Mochakottai Karuvadu Kulumbu (Field Beans Salted Fish Curry). Like immediately can trigger our hunger throne right? I know. I am definitely a big fan of this Indian style salted fish curry and salted fish on the whole by itself ( Spicy Ikan Bilis Potato , Sambal Tumis Ikan Bilis  &  Sambal Kentang Ikan Asin ), can drive me crazy because I so love saltiness. In fact, every day can be a salted fish meal day for me ( Salted Fish Pickle , Bean Sprouts Salted Fish  & Steamed Pork Salted Fish ). But, I think we all know it? Too much of saltiness and salt can ruin our health? Of course. Then again, there is such a thing as every now and then saltiness as our best friend? How do make this salted fish curry? Nothing much, no major confusing cooking matter ( Salted Fish Bone Curry ). My recipes as always will never cause you to struggle in the kitchen. Ingredients listed below

Restoran Orkid Thai - Section 9, Shah Alam

By the third day, Iphone 7 started showing its dark side. Really a terrifying-horrible shocking discovery, it kept rebooting every now and then for no apparent reason. Obviously, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Duh! Its a brand new phone I paid from  my savings ( Da De Bak Kut Teh Subang Jaya ), never ever have I encountered such a problem with my previous faithfully yours 6 year old Iphone 5. Absolutely heart wracking, I really couldn’t find the time ( Karaikudi Chicken Curry & Fikcles Cafe Taman Tun ) to rush to the service centre amidst the busyness of getting ready for the family wedding and another travel venture ( Oats Fried Prawn s ). Keeping my fingers crossed, hoping it’s just a minor teething problem, I went ahead with shopping nearby Plaza Shah Alam and Plaza Masalam. Accompanied by my niece, we bought a couple of things and then of course, naturally, shopping is more or less regarded as synonymous with hunger throne.
