Saree - The Fashion Statement

It is one thing to wholeheartedly embracing the big 5, I actually initially to tell you the truth couldn't accept that half a century is behind me, eventually reality did kick in, the other is ageing gracefully. Even though some "thingies" more of less can't be the same, no, they won't be, trust me please, I know what I am talking about, we sincerely must be proud of our age. But somehow I personally know of women who no matter what, won't just admit their age. Like I can't guess anyway. Come of it ladies. Who are we kidding? Ourselves? Maybe? Older ladies especially will try their level best by not admitting their age, and in return, intentionally or unintentionally resort to lying. The standard answers are a whole lot of none except for defending their age. Some will conveniently say - I'm your age (funny!), or why, why you want to know? Whereas others will throw back the question on me by asking - "Do I look so old"? or guess and that's my age". Oh god lord! Whats the matter ladies? Are you one of them? But why?

All in all, I have concluded, I may be wrong as well, yet after putting two to two together, I realise it could be due to lack of confidence. Should I blame them or blame our society? Pressure of our society. Are you telling me age biases does not exists? Go fly kites. I can go on and on and quote many examples why age does make a difference in our society. Quite mind boggling right? I know. We may preach that age is just a number, yet the reality is otherwise. Having said that, I must go ahead and convinced women in my age group of fifties that we are the cream of the crop. We are the women of the world. We are matured, we are sensible and we are packaged with years of various experiences, so much so we can knock down the young dollings anytime. We ought to be proud of aging gracefully and remember, we can feel proud of ourselves by looking good for our age. Who said we can't? Not me.

Why am I here for then? Why am I sharing my realistic and pratical life and style with all of you ladies (Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain & Mireica Nutri Collagen Drink)? I am by the way 52 years old. Believe me, confidence does not come because we look young for our age, it comes because we still maintain ourselves  (Hada Labo Cleansing Oil & Skinfood Black Sugar Mask) and we dress according to our age, shape and size. Get it ladies? Of course. Alright, how about I now move on to my saree fashion statement? No, no. Don't get me wrong. I am not in any way flaunting myself. I just want to give you some ideas on how you can look classy and polished in a saree. My saree fashion statement is definitely not an absolute. By all means, go ahead, you are your own fashion statement. But remember, you don't have to spend a fortune and for my sake, do not fall for the crab that fashion is about brands.

Saree of course is worth the investment especially for us Indian ladies. Then again, other races are also trending close to saree fashion. Saree by far will never go out of fashion, nevertheless new designs are part of parcel of saree fashion evolution. Then again, some of my mums sarees are forever classic and will never die out of fashion. Its all a matter of how you carry yourself in a saree. Sarees are generally a strike of vibrant colors, no doubt there are those baby and subtle colors as well. For my olive skin tone, vibrancy of bright colors does make a difference. I am also one who love bright colors. My personal choice (Sarees On Red Carpet). This saree is my latest which I wore for a ballroom function. RM150.00. Picked up from my neighbourhood saree shop, modern and trendy saree blouse stitched in the same shop too and accessories are from my existing collection.

I did though pay for saree tying and make-up. Usually I don't  but to avoid all the stress of spending hours in front of mirror until mirror may have cracked, additionally sweat dripping, paying was the logical  thing to do. Speaking about saree blouses, wow, its really crazy. Any fashion according to your liking please, yet remember something. No blind following. What looks perfect in the picture or on others may not be for us. Additionally, its about what we are comfortable with and what suits or fits us. My taste usually is back plunging instead of front showing. In fact, not at all till cleavage showing plunge. Somehow, I feel more comfortable with back showing. Front showing I think is not a good idea for ladies like us in our fifties. You can still go ahead provided you won't mind people staring at your boobies. I am quite particular on that account.

For temple weddings, I feel we shouldn't reveal too much of our skin out of respecting god and holiness. Don't you think so? And not necessarily you must wear a saree to temple for prayers. How about Punjabi Suits made from old sarees like the ones I am wearing? Call it another saree evolution for another fashion (creative saree ideas). Yes ladies, instead of idling your sarees away, you should consider getting the tailor to stitch you suites. a suits. Why not? After all, Punjabi suits are more versatile for on go dressing for most occasions?

Okay ladies, enough said I suppose. Actually I still have aplenty to tell you, but I reckon overdose of  anything is too much to handle. I should be back, sooner or I may take my time in pitching another fashion statement of mine. Take care ladies. Hail your fifties.
