My colleague on the other hand was busily reading the menu. Wonder why when she had already beforehand insisted that we must try the pork knuckles? Women? Don't they are a confused lot? I know. Anyway, instead of I too staring at the menu, I helped out. I didn't want to waste time because we have to be back at the office within the next hour. We ordered.
Drinks arrived within a jiffy, we sipped into the Cranberry Juice and Orange Juice. Ah! So lovely on this burning hot day, both the juices kicked in a cooling and sensation burst down our throat. While sipping in, we also took a good look at the ambiance.
Rustic, modern and spacious, with option of seating outside, which I believe is where the happy hour crowd will be later. For some of them, night will never end. Boozy night by the way is a long night for those who don't want to go home, for whatever reason is may be. I was in the same category those days, but its a different story all together these days. Now, almost an hour of await for food, also after noticing that customers who walked in after us were already tucking into their meal, I tried, a couple of times to ask, the waiters came by but the standard answer from each of them was "on the way" madam. On the way for the last 30 minutes? I had to, I didn't have a choice but behave like a diva.
Finally, we were told that knuckles will take an hour. Oh lord! Oh god god! Why were we not told earlier? We too overlooked this fact, which has been stated in the menu. Did we have any other choice? You are right, no. To keep us calm, thank you to the staff for serving us fries, alongside three types of dips. We gawked the thick potato bacons, polished off every bit and then, tadaa, the sight of pork knuckles.
Huge portion. Damn huge for two people, crispy on the outside and tender bite inside pork knuckle chunks, paired alongside creamy buttery potato salad, vinaigrette German cabbage and some greens. Actually, you know what, it was quite a pleasing meal. I didn't mind this close cousin of our local Chinese roasted pork. Sincerely, it is.
We definitely struggled to finish up. As it is, I am such a small eater, my colleague tried her best to eat as much as she could. In the end, we decided that it will be best to pack back the balance. I gave her the honour for bringing it back to her home. I didn't want. At this juncture, we had another surprise. Another complimentary, just like the served earlier fries. We were served two glasses, filled with chocolate mousse, atop with whipped cream.
Wow! Joy to the world Brotzeit Bier Bar & Restaurant. Thank you for calming us down eventually after keeping us in the lurch, for making us wait and for not wanting to tell us why we waited for pork knuckles. All the faults of Brotzeit Bier Bar & Restaurant were completely forgotten, we thanked the staff, prior to rushing back to work.

When we go to a restaurant all we expect is a decent ambiance, quality and yes, prompt service - so when they fail to be prompt, it is thoughtful of them to come up with complimentary food(Haa, understood the value of camera, LOL)! Also nice clicks!

ReplyDeleteoh...I hated for a long wait for food especially not being informed. But at least, they tried to make things up by offering fries and desserts afterwards. :) I would go straight for the crispy skin on the knuckles too. :P
