Indian-Spiced Salmon

What's my story to this Indian-Spiced Salmon today? Of course, obviously, in my house, it has to be Indian for my Indian other half-half. Indian style cooking basically no matter what. Remember, I have already shared this matter to Indian and his food love (Rice Congee With Condiments)? Precisely. And the other I must also share with you is fish love being his food love (Spicy Grilled Fish, Chilli Lime Fish & Kerala Fish Fry). Fish and fish and fish indeed I think forever, for the longest time, now and forever (Fish Sambar, Grilled Fish Sambal, Grilled Fish In Banana Leaf, Malaysian Indian Fish Curry, Assam Fish Curry & Chili Soy Fish). Usually, most of the time, I stick to our local catch which is very much cheaper. But I guess, every now and then, we can afford the rather pricey salmon? Sure. Why not? If its a once a while affair, I too won't hesitate. The fresh piece of salmon getting to my attention in the hypermarket, I literally couldn't ignore. Back home with salmon and then, as usual? Buying I think is easier compared to deciding what style to cooking? Always. Instead of the same style like the previous (Grilled Salmon), I decided to uplift salmon alongside curry leaves and plain chilli powder. Yep. Another simplicity again and only two of these much sorted after and much, akin a must for our Indian dishes (Egg Curry Masala, Curried Roast Chicken & Indian-Style Mustard Greens). Moreover, I thought grilling will be a better option compared to frying (Grilled Fish Sandwich). Not that I am against frying, but when you have already invested in a portable over the stove grill, you might as well? Of course. Salmon marinated alongside plain chilli powder, curry leaves and salt, up next after at least 4 hours, grilling. Crispy on the outside, beautiful curry leaves waffling and tenderness to its core inside salmon. Oh, before I forget, you can consider pairing Indian-Spiced Salmon alongside Ghee Rice & Cucumber Yogurt Salad

Ingredients
500g salmon  - cut into medium size pieces
2 sprigs curry leaves - shredded
1 tsp plain chilli powder
Salt to taste
2-3 tbsp oil

Method
Mix/rub salmon with all the ingredients except oil.
Marinate for at least 4 hours.
Thereafter, drizzle oil in a heated portable grill.
Place salmon inside and grill on both sides.
Serve with some salad leaves and lemon wedges.

  6. You are absolutely right. The thought of deep fried salmon..yuck. That type of fish is so tasty it only deserves a little light seasoning. Your grilled fish is inspiring. Great photo-yum!
