Chilli Padi Restaurant (Kuchai Lama, Klang Road)

Despite Kuchai Lama having a lot of good makan places, I ventured into this restaurant chain bravely. I figured if it was awful then I know what to avoid but if it was great then I would have gained in more ways than one. Being extremely adventurous that day I ordered its Pan-Fried Salmon which claimed to be from Norway. This place looked to serve everything from Malaysian to Thai to Western. Anyway the dish was rather disappointing and didn't live up to its description.
I was expecting the fish to be nicely cooked but it was overdone, hence flaky and hard. The sauce that came with it was too sweet for my taste. Moreover the accompanying vegetables was horrible. The so-called baked potatoes were hard and swimming in margarine and the assorted veggies were just blanched with hot water and has no taste.
Next was the Baked Escargots. Thankfully nothing went overly wrong with this one. It was baked with lots of garlic butter and had enough seasoning in it. However, I felt it too was overdone as the flesh didn't come out in one piece as it normally would, if done just right.
I also ordered a Club Sandwich to go for a friend. And the portions were generous. It had slices of chicken ham, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and so on. I tried a small bite and it was the nicest of the three dishes.
I think next time, I'll stick to the local offerings such as Fried Koay Teow, Nasi Lemak and so on. I will definitely give the Western dishes a miss.
