Shu Uemura Glowing Fit Lasting Compact Powder Foundation (SPF26)

Every now and then I pop by at the Shu Uemura counter when I am at the shopping mall. This time I bought this quite pricey compact powder foundation (Shu Uemura cleansing oil, Shu Uemura cleansing water and Shu Uemura emulsion) because the current one I have been using is going to finish off soon. Before I share with all of you on how it fared on my skin, lets see what Shu Uemura says -

Achieve the finish of a liquid foundation with the convenience of a fine textured powder foundation.
Formulated with clear glow enhancer, for an exquisite glow enhanced finish and fresh lasting color. The thin layer of powder smoothes and evens the skin for a natural flawless complexion.
This beautiful makeup finish has a long lasting formula which makes the skin feel light and comfortable throughout the day.
This foundation also treats and protects skin. Skincare agents such as Pomegranate Extract, Vitamin E and Vitasea Ferment are present in the foundation providing anti-oxidation as well as hydration benefits.
To use, it is quite similar to another two way cake foundation. This multi-functional "luminous glow" powder can be applied with the dry sponge or by wetting the sponge and applied with or without sun block or foundation to set it. For my warm skin tone, I settled for this shade as recommended by the beauty consultant. The packaging is somewhat basic - a black oblong shaped box with a mirror attached and a sponge to apply the powder.

Even after using for three months, as you can see, the compact is still 3/4 full, maybe because I just apply a light layer. Usually for day time outing, I apply with the dry sponge over the daily beauty products like eye cream, moisturiser and sunblock (Heliocare Advanced SPF50 Gel) for a decent coverage and a smooth natural look. And for special occasions, I wet the sponge and apply over foundation for a flattering glow.

Certainly, this compact is worth the purchase but to say it is better to other average brands I won't. Also, I didn't see any difference if it hydrated, provided anti-oxidation or improved my skin complexion. So to repurchase again I have my doubts.

  2. Perfect review! I don't do the toning ritual either, just the cleansing and moisturizing part with sunblock works for me. Toning makes my skin go super dry, I dunno somehow the skin looks cracked!!
Is that you in the last picture, Nava? Never seen your pic before?

  3. Thats nice to know you have found a good compact. I have been using Loreal SPF Moisturiser, MAC liquid foundation & compact for a very long time. This time I wanted to try something different & have been researching on good compact. Does this on gove a natural look or make up look Nava? Although I am very happy with MAC but still tempted to try some ither brand:)

  4. Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the amazing comments. Yes, its me alright.
Sheela - depends on how much you apply. As mentioned, for natural look, apply with dry sponge and if you like the glamour look for occasions, wet the sponge and apply over another another base, either a foundation or primer. I am also currently testing out MAC compact and should be able to write the review soon.

  9. I love Shu Uemura's products, I've use the oil and other make-ups before but not the powder compact yet. I'll definitely check it out the next time I need to get more powder. ;)

  10. Wow, this powder looks incredible, I can't wait to try it!
I have oily skin so I do generally end up looking matte and flat, a little blush and bronzer is a must otherwise my face simply doesn't look right.. The problem is is, that I don't really have any professional make up counter near me so I generally have to shop online, but getting the right product this way is tricky.. I normally use tools like this one by Ps Beauty http://www.beauty.ps/tool/foundation, which I really like (it makes quite accurate recommendations). They have recommended that I try one of the Shu liquid foundations but then I stumbled on this one and maybe I go for this instead. Sammy xx

  13. You certainly like Shu Eumura products! I don't use compact powder. Think I only used it 4 times over 12 months. Prefer loose powder only.
