Station One Leisure Cafe - USJ 10 (Subang Jaya)

Returning again to Taipan (Restaurant Makbul, Victoria StationAh Koong, Kayu Nasi Kandar. Lorong Seratus Tahun & Restaurant Murni) after settling some errands, I as usual like a meal all by myself. So, here I was at Station One Leisure Cafe - a corner lot eatery with rustic decor, strategically located at the junction and you definitely won't miss seeing it as you drive round and round at Taipan looking for parking. I usually park at the open car park because I rather avoid the terrific traffic.

Regardless of being rather empty and just a few customers walking in after I sat at one other tables facing the road, service was pretty slow. In fact, only after I waved and called a couple of times, I was attended to. Instead of flipping the menu which features mostly local dishes, I opted for the set lunch @ RM10.90 (inclusive of 10% service tax). The assam boi lime was served within seconds and this drink was so good for its sweet sour tang-zang especially for the hot weather.
Thereafter service picked up tremendously as the appetizer, vegetable soup, chicken bolognese and rice arrived at one go. Two types of salads for the appetizer, the julienne cabbage and carrot, sort of a coleslaw and the achar/pickled diced carrot and carrots. Simply prepared, these were really appetizing to start my meal.
The tomato flavoured soup with bitsy of radish and carrot, garnished with spring onion, was slightly cold but pleasantly tasty.  As for the chicken bolognese, the dark onion sauce drenched with chicken pieces was a little salty but when eaten with the brown rice paired with leafy green veggies, I shouldn't complain. For a spicy kick, I requested for birds eye chillies in soy sauce.

This lunch no doubt was value for money, the drink was nice, the items were not too bad, the ambiance neat and clean and despite the start to the slow service, Station One Leisure Cafe certainly is the eatery for a reasonably priced set meal.

  1. Haa, that is a right amount of spread. Not too much of choice, but just right. Good one.
Loved the drink in the 'jar', I think it is quite common in those areas. In fact a lavish drink, looks huge. Salad is always a welcome entrée, no matter what the combination is, it kinda works out well with the rest of the dish. Although I would like sprouts on the veggies to add up the zest. Chicken bolognese looks yum and fresh.
