Mint Mushroom Burger

Similar to life, food is a complex thing. So many types of dishes until sometimes its difficult to decide on what to cook for the day. Of course we have our favourites or those we hold close to our hearts but then again, "variety is the spice of life". I for once will not give up rice for anything else in this world.  However as said, it's nice to savour something different for a change.

Since I'm the only person who cook, I decide on the dishes. But does not mean it's only what I like, Well, one way of keeping the family together is to cook a meal/dish everyone will happily tuck in. Unanimously it was mushroom burger -  button mushrooms and  mint leaves, grilled with olive oil, gently tucked into burger buns together with vegetables and sauces.

Ingredients
For burger patties
1 can button mushrooms (about 300g) - chopped or processed into fine pieces
2 sprigs mint leaves - shredded
3 shallots - chopped
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 egg (for vegetarians, use a bit of cornflour)
3 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper for taste

For pickled onion
1 large yellow onion - sliced
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
Sugar and salt for taste
Other ingredients
Mini burger buns - slit to the edge
Red capsicum - sliced
Lettuce leaves - sliced
Cabbage leaves sliced
Mayonnaise (optional for vegetarians) and chilli sauce

Method
For patties
Mix all ingredients except oil in a large bowl.
Shape into patties.
In a non-stick grilling pan, drizzle oil.
Grill both sides of the patties.
Remove and keep aside.
Grill burger buns; remove and keep aside.

For pickled onion
Add all ingredients together and let it stand until needed.

To assemble
Place patty into grilled burger bun.
Also tuck in veggies and sauces.

  2. I enjoy burger occasionally. Most time I eat only patties with salad. They are quite tasty and I add also add oats to it. Next time I will add mint leaves.

King - either the oil splits or until the oil floats, indicating the grounded ingredients are fully cooked, removing the raw smell.

  18. Being a carnivour at heart,I like my burgers with beef in it, but after eating Nava's burger, you hardly know it's vegetarian, just like the real thing and very satisfying, upon biting the bun, you're engulfed with all sorts of aroma, from the variety and richness of ingredients used and with each bite it gets more and more satisfying, crunching into the full bodied mushrooms and other chewable stuff, you're eating merrily away and feeling mighty satisfied and sated, exactly how you should feel after a good burger meal, who knew vegetarian could taste this good and gives you such a full feeling, and to think its healthy to boot!
