Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa - Penang (Malaysia)

I can’t help, I really wonder how on earth wives get tacky by tagging alongside their spouses who work travel. What is the magic? Anyone have any clue? Bed magic or what then? I really can’t comprehend. How can that be possible? Only god knows. In my case, its really impossible. I did try my luck constantly, but I guess my marriage magic wand is not powerful enough. Having said that, my other half-half is not dead against me tagging along, but he believes that work and marriage and love travel should be set apart. Therefore, I don’t know how other wives do it, how they really push in tail-gating their spouses. Could it be because they are worried husband will resort to hanky-panky, and whether companies actually allow wives to tag along. Look, my other half-half is doing his own business, yet, he feels that professionalism will go down the drain if I tag along. Don’t ask me to elaborate, I really can’t speak on his behalf or behalf of tiger tyrant wives.

This Penang trip of ours, by the way was not a work trip mind you. It’s the other way around, it’s supposedly our love travel, but my other half-half, being a workaholic, squeezed in his work appointments. I am fine. I stay away from his work commitments. I have to. A relaxing weekend out of my house does not drop from the sky. It comes with the money he works his butt out. So, better to shut my gap and enjoy the every now and then marriage perks. Rasa Sayang Hotel had already been bookmarked. I did. I have green envied Rasa Sayang Hotel. Yes, I have eyed it for some time, other half-half too gave in to my desire of experiencing two nights in Rasa Sayang Hotel. Rasa Sayang Hotel is just so bountiful. You can actually feel the positive happy vibes upon stepping foot in the lobby. Soothing and calming, excellent customer service and bags carried to your room.
However, once I opened our room door and peeped outside, I realise that I will be facing the main road. Shouldn’t be a big deal for those who are gonna take censors on the number of cars or people passing by, for me, oh-no. I definitely yearned for a better view. So, we were back to the reception for switching to another room and paying the difference. Yes, you have to pay extra for a room facing the beach. But its all satisfyingly worth it if you want the best by relaxing in Rasa Sayang Hotel, which potentially was on my mind. Why shouldn’t I enjoy the luxury of our room? Fruit basket waiting for you on the table, super clean and rustic deco, bathroom equally stunning, nothing, nothing can be faulted.

Within the next 10 minutes, other half-half left for his appointment, I on the other hand stood for the next half an hour on the balcony for the pleasure of hearing and seeing the sea waves. Thereafter, I came down and walked around the huge green luscious garden, I simply love the washroom within this area.

Later, I stood at the beach for the next 10 minutes and when the Indian beach guys came towards me to offer the beach rides, they were in no way rude, still, I wasn’t comfortable. I didn’t want to give room for them to pester me. I bolted. I didn’t literally run though, I just quietly walked and went back to my room.

My attempt for a spa treatment didn’t materialize because spa was already fully booked. I agreed for next day’s appointment and instead of idling time in my room, I returned to the pool area for foot message. I sat across the beach, masseur started with massaging my feet, in between we spoke about everything and anything under the sun, I was totally impressed with my elderly masseur for wanting to earn his own pocket money instead of depending on his grown up children. Hats off to him, really, compared to those who prefer to couch potato over episodic drama series for adding more dramas to their life.

Back to the room, I stood on the balcony to watch the glowing ball of sun going down, and then I showered, I meet up with my other half-half at the one of eateries across the main road for dinner, prior to calling it a day.

  6. How much did it cost for the stay? Looks like a great resort but afraid that the room does not have enough sound-proofing if you know what I mean heheh

  7. What a pretty facility--and I know what you mean, sometimes you just want to relax on vacation rather than seeing everything.
