Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa - Penang (Malaysia) - Part 2

By 5.30pm, the sun had gone down. I too had enough of staying in the room (Rasa Sayang Part 1). Actually quite boring as well changing the tv channels as there weren't any decent movies. Instead of going mad, I came down to the ground floor. Each and every staff who passed by greeted and smiled at me. In fact as I walked from the room to the lift. even the cleaners smiled. Isn't it nice? Perhaps why Rasa Sayang is highly spoken as one of the best hotels in Penang. I then walked towards the huge open area surrounded with trees and plants where you can sit and idle your time away. Nature had to call at that juncture.

Gosh!! So beautiful the outdoor toilet resembling a mini "Bali" - lots of plants, wooden panelling, squeaky clean and unlike the public toilets where you have to hold your breath. I didn't want to leave. Then again, won't be nice simply waiting inside presuming there's no one else. But if there was, I may have been branded as a peeping tom.

From the toilet, I walked to the beach, stood at the side and noted how people were enjoying themselves. The beach quite empty since its the off peak season. Of course those holidaying were either swimming, riding the water scooter, jogging or simply lazing. I didn't feel comfortable when the Indian boys came closer offering the water scooter and boat ride services. Earlier I've read in the room that it's advisable to go through the hotel for the beach activities. Assuming that those offered by the boys may be illegal, I felt its best to go back to the room and book for a spa treatment.

To be continued in Part 3.

  1. While I do love adventurous travels, it is a nice break just to do some plain old relaxing. Your hotel does look like the perfect place for that. Nice atmosphere! Also, a few spa treatment will make you feel brand new. Enjoy my friend!

  6. How much did it cost for the stay? Looks like a great resort but afraid that the room does not have enough sound-proofing if you know what I mean heheh

  7. What a pretty facility--and I know what you mean, sometimes you just want to relax on vacation rather than seeing everything.
