Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa - Penang (Malaysia): Part 1

Seldom do I tack alongside my other half when he travels for work. Somehow he doesn't feel its appropriate. Perhaps also he thinks that I will be bored, locked up in the hotel room. I however have been constantly pushing my luck. Not once but many a times. Anyway there's only so much with pushing because he wouldn't change his mind. So happened that when he had to travel to Penang on a short notice for the weekend, he gave me the green light. Not sure why. Of course I jumped up at once. We quickly packed, manage to book a room, flew on Air-Asia and there we were at Rasa Sayang hotel (Batu Ferringhi main road).

Rasa Sayang hotel is truly impressive, well maintained and such a beauty where you will feel so serene and welcomed. The staff of course know what is expected out of them (Philea Resort & Spa Malacca). We got down from the cab, our bags helped and cared for, while my other half paid for our two nights stay (RM850.00 ++ per night).  Within 10 minutes, just as we were about to go up to the room along with the porter, we realised that our room is facing the main road and not the beach. Certainly quite disappointing because I'm not going to look at the road and counts the number of cars passing by. So, what else? Back to the reception to change room for RM100.00. That's okay. Not always we are out of the house and not always we stay in such a resort.

Once we were in the room, other half said bye to move on with his appointment. I on the other hand thereafter took pictures of this lovable and comfort zone room. Modern woody ambiance, spacious and super clean. Wiki connection was super speed fast whereas the fruits indeed added an additional welcoming touch.

Equally super clean and beautifully set up was the bathroom with more than enough toiletries. For me, shower gel, shower cap, towels, hair dryer and soap are a must. Is expected. But I really don't need toothbrush, comb, tooth paste and cotton pads because ever since I started travelling, I pack them up in my luggage. Also, since I prefer my own shampoo, conditioner and body lotion, I pack them as well. All of these things were definitely in the bathroom, among the rest of the toiletries.

.
This room with a sliding door opens up to the beach out there. So, for the next 20 minutes, I did nothing, I stood on the balcony and looked far and beyond towards the beach, the pool and what not. Thereafter? I'll tell you in Part 2 okay!

Don't forget to trend alongside "travel with nava-k" on every other social media pleassee!!

  4. It's indeed a lovely place and we have had our conference there for 4 days in last Nov and i loved it! But i find the Spice Market Cafe is just mediocre, how do you find it? We discovered a very nice Northern Indian cuisine just opposite Rasa Sayang, a short distance walk, and that place is a must go! Unfortunately i dont remember the name of the restaurant, but i will go back there again for sure, i guess that's the only one nearby serves Northern Indian food. Been trying out a few places of Northern Indian restaurants (mainly in Subang), so far the one opposite Rasa Sayang is the best! Nava, been reading your blog quietly of late and admiring your cooking since the day i started reading (mid of last yr). Now, i'm back, new blog and new me! It's me, CazzyCazz!! Hugsssss

  6. Thanks everyone for all the lovely comments.
Lal Mirchi - I did try Spice market for morning buffet and wow, what a whole big spread it was. I think I sort of know which restaurant you are referring to from Rasa Sayang but you know, Indian food is so often for us and we went for other types of food.
