Mutton In Yogurt Mint Gravy

Mutton Potato Parathal, Mutton Kurma, Masala Mutton Curry, Spicy Minced Mutton & Pepper Mutton Curry are pretty much the customary or should I also say the standard types of mutton dishes. Of course the next question is which blogger's recipe is the winner and that pretty much depends on the stunning pictures and also perhaps how the recipe is worded to captivate your attention. I really have no qualms if you prefer another blogger's recipe compared to mine. Honestly, fine with me, why should I get jealous? No, I shouldn't. However, if you are tired of those standard mutton dishes I have already mentioned, nava-k can give you other options (Mutton Mee Hoon Soup & Almond Spicy Mutton). This mutton in yogurt mint gravy I hope will be the other way to a mutton dish as well. It's different in the sense that the heat punch is from black pepper instead of chilies and for its creaminess and tanginess, I'm fond of yogurt. 

400g mutton - cut into thin long stripes and rinsed
2 ( about 300g) potatoes - diced with the skin on.
6 shallots - sliced thinly
1 inch ginger - sliced into thin long stripes
20g (or one small bunch) mint leaves - pluck the leaves out of the stems.
100g yogurt
1/2 tbsp crushed black pepper seeds
Spices - 2 sticks of cinnamon, 3 cloves and 1 star anise
Salt for taste
Oil as needed
Season potatoes with salt.
Deep fry, remove and keep aside. 
Leave about 3 tbsp of oil in the same pan.
Saute spices, shallots and ginger. 
Add mutton and 1/4 cup of water (or as needed ) to cook mutton till soft and tender.
Add in yogurt and season with salt. 
Stir and continue to cook till gravy thickens.
Goes in fried potatoes and mint leaves.
Stir and remove from heat.
Don't forget to trend alongside "cook with nava-k" on every other social media please!!

  6. WE, THE TURKS LOVE YOGHURT!!! The word is derived from Turkish: yoğurt, and is related to the obsolete verb yoğmak 'to be curdled or coagulated; to thicken'. The letter ğ was traditionally rendered as "gh" in transliterations of Turkish prior to 1928. In older Turkish, the letter denoted a voiced velar fricative /ɣ/, but this sound is elided between back vowels in modern Turkish, in which the word is pronounced.

    The use of yogurt by medieval Turks is recorded in the books Diwan Lughat al-Turk by Mahmud Kashgari and Kutadgu Bilig by Yusuf Has Hajib written in the 11th century. Both texts mention the word "yogurt" in different sections and describe its use by nomadic Turks.
