Other times, it's simply flavouring rice with a few ingredients to elevate the taste (cumin rice). This rice dish made with tomato, ginger, shallots and garam masala isn't anything spectacular. But as said, flavoured up and tasty.
2 cups rice - wash and drain off excess water
2 (abt 230g) tomato - sliced thinly
6 shallots - sliced
1 inch ginger - sliced
1/4 tsp garam masala/all spice powder
3 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
Water as needed
When oil is heated, saute the shallots, tomatoes and ginger.
Add in the rice, garam masala and salt.
Fry for another 3-4 mins and then put into the rice cooker.
Pour in the normal amount of water and let it cook.
Once cooked, fluff up.
