Another recipe of mine on how to make fish puttu (flakes), different then the previous one, known similarly as "Fish Puttu". This time its more on a spicy taste with fish curry powder as well as other different ingredients.added inside. As stated in my previous recipe, the best choice of fish will be the shark but you can also try with Indian Mackerel (tenggiri). A lovely fish dish which I normally served with either plain rasam, egg rasam, lemon milk rasam or crab legs rasam.
Ingredients
To Prepare The Fish
450g shark(sura) fish
1 tbsp grounded/blended ginger
3 cups water
Other Ingredients
1 medium size (abt 60g) tomato - chopped
2 tbsp fish curry powder (or as preferred)
1/2 tbsp turmeric/kunyit powder
6 shallots - sliced
5 garlic - sliced
1 tsp cumin seeds
3 sprigs curry leaves
1/2 tbsp lemon/lime juice
4 tbsp canola oil
salt to taste
Method:
Add the fish, ginger and water into a pot and boil until fish becomes soft and cooked.
Drain the water out and let it cool down before flaking into smaller pieces, discard the skin and the bones.
When oil is heated, add all the ingredients inside and fry over low heat.
Keep doing so for about 20 mins until the fish becomes brown and crunchy looking.
Once this is done, remove from heat.

Oh yum, this looks divine! I love this dish! Funnily enough, as much as I love South Indian food, I never had it, growing up in Sing & M'sia! First time was a few years ago here in the UK, at a South Indian restaurant - go figure! xx
