Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh (Jaya One - PJ) - Non-Halal

Not to be mistaken with the one in PJ Old Town, this Heng Kee is located a few doors away from Sushi King in Jaya One. Admittedly I was lured into the shop by the smell of the soup. As soon as I sat down I had a tinge of regret. The prices per portion is higher than other famous and regular BKT places.

Since I was alone, I ordered a portion (RM12.50) of intestines and pork tripe. When the goods came I was slightly disappointed as the meat given were very little. It didn't even have some Chinese  cabbage and button mushrooms in it. The soup is very light and had little herb taste in it. I prefer the ones with a more pungent aroma and taste.
Another thing I ordered was the straw mushrooms. In some places this is included in the BKT but here it is sold separately. It was a bigger disappointment. The soup lost its herb taste and all I could taste was the slightly sourish juice from the mushrooms. Despite that, I finished what I could with a bowl of rice (RM1.50).
I don't think I'll be repeating my visit here as the prices don't justify the quality of food presented. Those who like their BKT soup to be light will enjoy this place. Anyway, if I return to the same area, perhaps I will go back to Coffee Ritual, Nagomi or Kissaten.
