SERAI Empire (Empire Subang)

Excellent I would say the first time dining at Serai. I was at Empire to get some stuffs and then just at random. walked into this restaurant not knowing head or tail about it. Packed with customers during this lunch time leaving no empty tables at the front dining area, I sat right at the back at the other section. Unlike the stylish ambiance in front, where I sat just so basic but suppose when hunger throne had kicked your stomach really hard, as long as a meal is served quickly, you are satisfied.

The "Nasi Kerabu" for this lunch?? Awesome. From there on, I raved and raved about Serai to other half and literally forced him to accompany me for an early dinner on this Saturday. Again, no luck at the front dining area, so back to the back section.

The beautiful and charming lady owner immediately recognised me, She came over, we spoke and she suggested the home made cakes. We smiled, nodded and from the menu, food and drinks were selected.

Like in any other eateries, drinks came first. Cappuccino was the usual fare with the usual taste.
The "Serai Ice Blended Lychees" - lovingly nice for the fruity punch from lychees and lemony scent of serai/lemongras, blended with ice till slushy for that chilled sensation.
Then came the "Serai Platter" and  "Seafood Char Keow Teow". Half-half forked into the flat rice noodles cooked to the right texture with chives/kucai,bean sprouts and fresh prawns. He smiled and being a hard-core keow teow lover, thumbs up the verdict.
When I ordered the "serai platter" I completely over looked the beef rendang. Pushing it aside, I tucked into the herbs infused rice, sotong sambal, ayam goreng berempah and achar. Sotong a little let down due to sweetness whereas the fried aromatic chicken loveable with a nice crispy outer layer and tender meat inside. Achar of course the best catch-match for such a platter - sweet, sour and spicy tastes.  As for the rice, I would have preferred more herbs as the faint hints weren't enough.
Paying RM64.25 definitely didn't burnt a hole in my other half's pocket. Serai - good food, pleasant customer service and ambiance, not too bad.
