Pronounced as hoh-gees haus, the outlet serves sandwiches, pastas, salads, coffee and juices – says the line below the outlet’s logo. They also profess to serve healthy meals without compromising on the taste. As a fan of Subway sandwiches, it’s a no-brainer that the place caught my attention.
According to Wikipedia.org, hoagie is a “sandwich that consists of an oblong roll, often of Italian, Spanish or French bread, split lengthwise either into two pieces or opened in a "V" on one side, and filled with various meats, cheeses, vegetables, seasonings, and sauces.”
On a wall, it states that their breads are freshly made. If you are having a hoagie, you may choose from Classic, Wholemeal or Foccacia. I ordered the fusion-styled sandwich aka Portuguese Hoagie, RM9.50. Yes, the bread tastes fresh and there is indeed a “fusiony” taste, somewhat mayo-like with a tangy flavourful taste. However, for RM9.50, I’d rather stick with Subway – it is just much more satisfying with the many types of vegetables bursting out of the sandwich compared to the rather thin hoagie from Hoagies Hauz.
The place offer WiFi for all you who can’t live without Internet connection and they have promotions (which lasts to 31 July 2010). The coupon can be attained from the outlet. There are three promotions.• Buy 1 Hoagies and get the 2nd one for 50% off
• Get a Chicken Garden Salad and get a Vienna Baguette for free
• Get a Spaghetti and a fruit juice for 50% off.
The outlet is opposite Village Grocer. The bill came to RM13, including mineral water, RM2.90, and service charge of 5%, RM0.62. From that one hoagie I tried, the place did not impress but neither was it an entirely appalling choice.
